Success Story: Challenges Present Opportunities to Grow

First, I would like to say, thank you! Thank you to the contributors of the book Hero and to you, Rhonda, for bringing out the best in us and telling us not to give up on our dreams.

I had bought the book Hero exactly one year ago and this is the only time that I got the chance to read it. I am so happy and thankful that I have read it because nowadays, I think I was already on the verge of giving up on my goal.

Challenges Present Opportunities to Grow

At the time that I got fired from my previous job which was mainly my comfort zone, things that I wanted in my life diminished. If thought if I could just turn back time, I wouldn’t take a decision to get myself promoted and get fired after 8 months. If I hadn’t done that, I would still be in the company, doing the things that I wanted and still be with my friends and boss for the longest time.

However, while reading the book, the moment that I read Layne Benchley’s line “Challenges and obstacles present all of us the opportunity to grow and improve and learn, and step outside of our comfort zone and experience what life truly has to offer”, it struck me big time. I remembered that at the time I had applied for the promotion was to make myself grow and be able to give my very best to excel in the area that I wanted to achieve. I realized that I need to experience it to be stronger, smarter and be able to step out and be the best that I can be. Also, maybe that industry is not really meant for me and I just need to wait for my big break to come, so big that it will blow my mind. And someday, I will go back to my naysayers and to those people who fired me and I will tell them “Thank you! Without your help, I wouldn’t be able to achieve this.”
