The Law of Attraction Has Been Called Many Different Things

Since the release of the movie, “The Secret” it seems that everyone is talking about the Law of Attraction. People I never suspected had any interest in personal growth or self-help are chatting up a storm about their newfound empowerment and insight. More power to them. The more people who recognize and make conscious use of their power in a constructive way, the more it benefits everyone.

But the Law of Attraction isn’t anything new. It’s a natural law that’s been available to every human on the planet from the date of their birth and no one is unaffected by this great power, whether they are consciously aware of it or not. That’s the thing those who shun “The Secret” or anything related to conscious creation just don’t understand.

The Law of Attraction is defined in the movie as ‘like attracts like’. in the world of self-help and personal development, the Law of Attraction means this: you get what you think about.

In his book, You’ll See It When You Believe It, Wayne Dyer put it this way, “You too see, in your own life, essentially what you believe. If, for example, you believe strongly in scarcity, think about it regularly, and make it the focus of your conversations, I am quite certain that you see a great deal of it in your life. On the other hand, if you believe in happiness and abundance, think only about them, talk about them with others, and act on your belief in them; it is a very good bet that you are seeing what you believe.”

You may have heard of it in any number of ways, including…

* Like Causes Produce Like Effects

* The Law of Sowing and Reaping

* Karma

* Thoughts Become Things

* Action/Reaction

Essentially, all these titles refer to the same great power we call the Law of Attraction. It’s a natural law of the universe, one which creates in our life with or without our conscious awareness.

Each of us gets out of life what we put in. As Earl Nightingale stated many years, “good attitude, and good results. Fair attitude, fair results. Bad attitude, bad results.” You could just as easily substitute the word, ‘attitude’ with ‘effort’ or ‘action’. And everyone has heard this proverb at one time or another, “As you sow, so shall you reap.

Author Wallace Wattles revealed the magic of creation in a ‘thoughts become things’ context when he stated, “Thought is the only power that can produce tangible riches from formless substance.” At some point in your life you were probably warned that taking a certain action could have negative consequences that would mysteriously appear. You were being warned about the power of karma.

Yes, the Law of Attraction has been called many different things. But its power is unquestioned. We tend to understand that like causes produce like effects with respect to certain behaviors and actions, but many of us overlook its constant presence and how it affects every aspect of our lives.

What you put forth is what comes back to you. Keep this in mind at all times and you can create your own reality as you desire it to be.
